Become a volunteer

Est.1761 depends on our team of enthusiastic volunteers to help make the Bridgewater Canal in Salford a great place to visit and there are many ways in which you can become involved. These range from helping to transform the natural environment that borders the canal to telling its story through heritage projects and getting involved in events and activities that enliven the area.

Volunteering with us is a great opportunity to develop new skills, meet friendly people and expand your knowledge. Being a volunteer could even make a difference to your physical and mental well-being ! You don’t need to know anything about the canal and training will be provided where needed. We are always looking for new volunteers so if you’d like to find out more please get in touch bridgewatercanal@salford.gov.uk
